Gerard Nus is a UEFA Pro license football coach with the Sport Science Degree. He has worked for many clubs and national teams in different countries, with experience in the Premier League with Liverpool FC and Brighton Hove Albion FC (England), in the K-League with Jeonnam Dragons (South Korea), in the A-League with Melbourne Heart & City (Australia), for Ghana National Team (Africa), Greece National Team, Elche CF (Spain), Rayo Vallecano of Madrid (Spain), AFC Eskilstuna (Allsvenskan, Sweden).

Gerard has performed as Head Coach of Rayo OKC (NASL-US), Irtysh Pavlodar (Kazakhstan Premier League) and NorthEast United FC (Indian SuperLeague).

Gerard’s career began at the age of 14 when he worked as an assistant coach at various football camps for RCD Espanyol. His desire to be involved in coaching grew and at the age of 16 he completed one year coaching course to get the Federation Football Coaching Level 1 (Spanish Federation). The following year, he completed his Level 2 coaching certificate, increasing his chances of getting involved in higher level coaching. Moreover, Gerard wanted to deepen his studies in football and sport, so he began a degree in Sport Science at the age of 18, which he completed four years later. It was at the age of 22 when Gerard completed his Level 3 coaching certificate (equivalent to UEFA Pro license) in Huesca (Spain) and university studies.

Gerard had always balanced his studies with playing football but during the first year of university he suffered from a complicated ankle injury that meant the end of his career as football player. It was at that point when he fully dedicated himself to coach youth teams.

At the early age of 22 years old Gerard moved to England, to Liverpool FC’s prestigious football academy, and one year later he became part of the first team staff.

This invaluable education would be complemented later with his work as assistant for Chunnam Dragons (K-League, 1st Division Team in South Korea) alongside the manager, Mr. Hae Soung.

After this great experience in Asia, Gerard published the book “Warm up in football: training sessions & matches”, which has been translated to Spanish and Korean. The book’s foreword was written by the prestigious football manager, Mr. Rafael Benítez, his former boss at Liverpool FC.

In the 2012-2013 season, Gerard worked at Brighton & Hove Albion FC (English Championship Team) as Head of Academy Coaching. By that time, he had the great chance to work close to another successful and knowledgeable manager, Gustavo Poyet.

In the 2013-2014 season, Gerard worked as assistant coach at Melbourne Heart (A-League), 1st Australian soccer division.

As a side, Gerard developed a coaching App called “Efficiency Match Sports”, a tool that allows coaches and sports’ staff to design and create training sessions as well as  taking notes on sport games.

On 2014, Gerard was awarded with “Sport Coach 2014” by Reus Town Hall (Sports’ Councilman).

In parallel Gerard worked for the Catalan TV (Esports 3 / TV3) based in Barcelona analyzing Champions League games.

On December 2014, Gerard worked for the Ghana Football Association as Assistant Coach of Mr. Avram Grant (Head Coach). On the African Cup of Nations (Equatorial Guinea, 2015) the team achieved the Final, although they lost it during the penalties against Côte d’Ivoire. Nus had a great and successful time with the Black Stars.

Gerard worked simultaneously for Elche CF (Spain) under the supervision of Mr. Ramon Planes (Elche CF Chief Sports Director) until July 2016.

It was then when Gerard signed with Rayo Vallecano of Madrid to become Deputy Technical Director.

On August 2016 Gerard was named new Head Coach of Rayo OKC (Nasl-USA), a soccer club owned by Rayo Vallecano of Madrid.

The team succeeded achieving the NASL Championship Semifinal, with 10 games unbeaten and 5 straight win games.

​On December 2016 Gerard joined again the Black Stars for the African Cup of Nations (Gabon, 2017), when the team achieved the Semifinals. 

Then Gerard came back to Rayo Vallecano of Madrid, where he worked again as deputy technical director until December 2017.

Then Gerard became Irtysh Pavlodar FC’s Head Coach (Kazakhstan Premier League).

On December 2018, Gerard became Methodology Technical Director of AFC Eskilstuna (Allsvenskan, Swedish top division).

On September 2020, Gerard became the Head Coach of NorthEast United (Indian Super League).

On February 2022, Gerard was appointed Assistant Coach of Greece National Team under the well known manager Mr. Gustavo Poyet.
